When faced with the common ice breaker question “What one person would you most like to have dinner with?”, I have a new answer: The Pie Minister.
A crisp, cold winter’s day in Bristol and little plumes of steam rise from St Nicholas Market.
They’re coming from the plates of customers at the Pie Minister stall, tucking into a heart-warming range of pies: pork and bacon, minty lamb, tarragon chicken, beef, chorizo, goat’s cheese and sweet potato, and butternut squash with blackeye beans.
Perhaps my wife and I ought to take a pie themed vacation this summer, “The Pies of Europe” or something… but I digress.
